The « Lycée de la Mer Paul Bousquet” (maritime technical school), was founded in 1851 and since then we have been training students in all professions concerning the sea.
Our establishment is the only maritime college on the Mediterranean continent.
We are financed by the Region Occitanie Pyrénées-Méditerranée and we depend on the Ministry of Ecology for long term environmental project and development.
We currently employ around 60 staff and host 200 to 250 students, apprentices and adult trainees. We also have full boarding facilities and a restaurant.

The Lycée de la Mer is located in Sète, the biggest fishing port in the south of France, beside the salt lake Thau, where 10% of the national shellfish supply is produced.
Our establishment has the good fortune to be the only one equipped with its own harbour and includes our own production of marine culture.
The Lycée de La Mer welcomes pupils from secondary schools who train in order to get diplomas such as BAC PRO (O' and A' levels,) with diverse specialities : merchant marine seamen, naval engineering, fishing and marine culture, which will unable them to work on vessels at different levels.
We operate a block release training course (school course combine with experience) of CAP merchant sailor and aquaculture production BTSA (postgraduate programs).
We also direct a maritime training scheme as a direct answer to the needs of the maritime world.
All our training courses go from level V to IV and concern fishing, trading, professional sailing, water sports, professional diving, naval engineering and promotion and marketing of sea products and maritime security.
